Writer's Area wants to publish your work! We invite you to submit your favorite short stories, poems, and other writings - please read the following guidelines & requirements before you submit anything to us. We apologize for the long list, but we wish to keep this a "family community", and thus we must have strict guidelines :-):
- Writer's Area agrees to publish any aspiring child or adult writer's writing, at no cost or compensation to the author.
- Writer's Area will only accept "family-friendly" writings. Since Writer's Area is viewable to both adults and children, we aim to create a positive atmosphere for all families. Certain writings that imply about death, suicide, sexual content, or other related material may be declined for publication. Writer's Area retains the right to refuse writings that do not express family-friendly content.
- Writer's Area will accept writings up to 1000 words in length. Longer writings may be accepted, depending on content. We retain the right to edit if the number of words exceeds this, or decline submission.
- Submissions to Children's Area should be from a child age 17 or under.
- Submissions to Adult's Area should be from an adult age 18 or above.
- Children must have their parents' permission before submitting their work. You will be required to check a box acknowledging that you have permission to submit this work.
- You must provide name of author and valid email address. We will only list initial of last name in children's area, or first and middle name if you provide them to us. You will have a choice to remain anonymous. We will not consider works without an email address.
- You must provide a name for your writing. If there is no name, please list "Untitled" where provided. We will not consider works with this area not filled in. Although we do accept works titled, "Untitled", we encourage you to give your writing a unique name, so others will be inclined to read it.
- Please check your punctuation (capitalize where necessary). Also add line and paragraph breaks where you intend them to be, or we will have to make that decision for you. It takes time for us to go through each poem and any additional work will just delay this process.
- You must provide an email address, but you will have a choice whether to make this public. Email addresses will not be displayed in the Children's section.
- You will be asked to check a box to attest that you are the sole owner of this work, and current copyright holder.
- All Writer's Area authors automatically become Members. We are no longer sending out acceptance emails, so it is up to you to Email Us so you can gain access to our Member's Forum.
- All Members may receive occasional emails from Writer's Area, no more than once per month (usually less than this).
- All copyrights remain with their respective owners.
- We review and add writings 1-2 times per month. All accepted writings will appear online within one month of submission. If your writing has not appeared in over 4 weeks, feel free to Email Us.
- These guidelines may be amended at anytime.
Submissions accepted from the 15th until the end of each month.
