"My Riddles", by Kevin B. Copyright © May 18, 2001, Age 12
I exist but sometimes ignored.
I am forced to live on the floor.
I cast an image, though dark,
and follow my owner and leave no mark.
I disappear when the sun sets
And never be caught in any nets.
I will always forever lie,
Can you tell me what am I?
(a shadow)
I am the end of time and space.
The beginning of the end and the end of every race.
I created Eden, though I began evil.
Within me is the Renaissance and Medieval.
I am in the future but not in the past
I’m not a creature but in books I last.
I’m in everything; I’m like an eye.
I have neighbours; What am I?
(the letter "E")
I am recorded since humans appeared.
I am acknowledged and never sneered.
I’m very old and let my sand flow
I kill the elderly and help children grow.
I hold the keys to the future and past;
I let things age as I go pass.
I keep memories and never die.
I’m a father to all. Who am I?
(Father Time)
I am a tale in childrens’ minds.
I keep their secrets and share them inside.
I blur their thoughts into fantasies kept
Like a canvas of art or a submarine depth.
Though an illusion, it occurs every night;
I give them a fantasy, I give them a fright.
Nor good or bad, but always nigh’
It’s interesting to tell. What am I?
(a dream)
I am a box of chatter and noise.
I distract both girls and boys.
I advertise for companies
and put in cartoons like birds and bees.
Comedies and tragedies, that’s what I hold.
My freckles are knobs that twist and roll.
My face is glass; I sometimes talk lies.
I poison young minds; what am I?
(a television set)
