"Another Chance", by Sylvia J.
Copyright © February 17, 2000, Age 17

As I walk through the pasture, in the middle of the night.
I stop by a tree and whisper his name to the stars.
With tears in my eyes I drop to my knees and hug myself.
I feel the tremors rush through my body;
I question the Almighty Lord once again.
My mind drifts back to that morning,
when I could feel his hand,
so cold and rough grasp mine.
His eyes slowly found mine and he tried to get me to understand.
For the last time he whispered, "I love you."
Crying I whispered, "I love you too."
I watched as he left me.
He tried to say more, but I silenced it with a kiss
and gave his hand a quick squeeze.
I turned away as the machines sounded my grandpa's death.
The very one I called Immortal.
