"What If", by Stephanie Copyright © November, 2000, Age 13 What if, one day, the sky was not blue? If one day, came the morning, but not the dew? If the daffodils, refused to grow, The deer, butting heads with the doe? It would be really strange. What if, one day, the sun did not shine? If one day, the clouds, all formed, a very straight line? If the leaves turned brown, and dropped to the ground, The mockingbird, giving off a horrendous sound? It would be really be strange. Strange, as in "What happens now?" Your world has come crashing to an end. The show is over; no one takes a bow. Could this be, Mother Nature’s revenge? After a time, it will seem normal. Your perfect world has returned. But you must take care, or it will burn. And burn, and burn, with no end in sight. The world is turning into quite a fright. It would really be strange...if the world was perfect again.
