"Churchbells", by Evie

Songs of joy and peace they're bringing,
deep into the silence singing
hymns of laughter and of tears-
Clear and pure through nighttime skies,
past clouds and to the stars they rise,
each golden note, until it dies,
a story of the passing years.
You hear them pealing loud and louder
from their high and sturdy tower,
fill with song that golden hour;
notes of hope and notes of love-
Tolling, rolling, like a dream,
twinkling like the stars they seem,
gleaming music's brightest beam;
as they fly on high above.
Then the last note fades away,
the bells are ended for the day;
but still in memory their yet gay
though their chiming now does sleep-
Clearly in our hearts and minds,
there the bells a dwelling finds,
still within their music winds;
ever in our memory keep.
