"Proud to Say I Love You", by Emily W. Copyright © 2000, Age 15
Memories of my life
Flood over my soul
When I think of you nanna
They make me feel whole
Gathering at your house
With all the family there
We made lots of memories
For all of us to share
I don't think you know it
but I look up to you
for you are so sweet and kind
and your love is so true
Nanna, I couldn't imagine
life going on, if you weren't here
it wouldn't be the same
that is something I fear
You always seem so peaceful and happy
and always look so beautiful
I wish, and I hope I will be like you
so pure and graceful
You always seem to know
the right words to say
and the right moments for cuddles
and make it all better for the rest of the day
if I were to write a story on your life
it would be endless of course,
of the family you and Pop first created
and the love and joy you have brought
to each of your own
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren
I am your grandaughter,
a daughter from your very own little girl
I am fifteen and all I can say
that you are my Nanna and I am proud to announce
that I love you more and more each day.
