"First Carnival", a Rhyming Story by Jennifer P. Copyright © 2001, Age 16
"Ring! Ring!" "Hello?" "Hey Judy, do you want to go to the
carnival at the town square?" "Sure Marissa, let me tell my mom and brush my hair."
"Ok, Benny is coming too. We’ll pick you up at one." "Alright Marissa! This is going to be so much fun!"
When the three arrived at the carnival, they were so excited they
didnt know what to do! After they bought their tickets, Judy suggested that they ride the
Loop-Di-Loo.
"Wow, that was great! Let’s go on another one," Judy said. "Not quite yet," Marissa cut in, "I still can’t feel my head!"
Benny laughed and said, "Let’s get a drink and have a seat." Then he added, "Then after a few more rides we can get some
cotton candy to eat."
The three agreed and decided to ride on the Bumper Cars. "That was fun," Marissa said, "Let’s go on the Movin’ Mars.
"Cool!" said Benny, "The line is really long so let’s play a game
or two." "This one looks fun," Judy said, "Let’s see what we have to do."
The object was to hit the balloons with the dart. Well Judy didn’t get off to a good start.
Benny hit 3 balloons and won a great prize. It was a stuffed animal of great size!
Marissa hit 5 balloons and won stuffed animal and a blow up bat. Judy decided to try her luck again and ended up winning a hat.
Well the line for the Movin’ Mars was still of great length, so Benny wanted to play the game that required lots of strength.
He grasped the great big hammer and gave the target a very hard
hit. It hit the top with a loud "Ding!" and he won a baseball mit.
Judy wanted to ride the Mexican Hat Dance. It went up and down
and all around. When Marissa got off the ride she was so dizzy that she almost fell
to the ground!
They all bought some cotton candy and found a close place to rest. They were all having a great time. They agreed it was the best!
The line for Movin’ Mars was shorter now, so they finished their
cotton candy and got in line. While waiting in line, Judy spotted another rided that looked like
fun, The Grape Vine.
"That was the best ride ever!" voiced Benny, "I am having a great
time!" Marissa and Judy definately agreed and decided to go on The
Grape Vine.
After that ride they were wore out and decided to leave. To find the exit, in and out of people they had to weave.
On the ride home the three of them couldn’t stop talking about the
rides and games. They told Marissa’s mother about all the fun rides with the funny
names.
When they each got home they layed in bed and dreamed about the
delight, as they fell asleep and dreamed all through the night.
