"Winter Blues", by Elizabeth Copyright © 2001, Age 35
It's the beginning of a new year. I feel like I should be happy but I am not. The days are short and the nights are long. The holidays are over for another year.
My daughter is home for Xmas break wrecking the house and driving me crazy. What's a single mom to do?
I want to escape to somewhere warm, quiet and peaceful. But I have no money. I spent it all on Xmas presents.
The bills are piling up and there is no toilet paper!! This is what I call the winter blues.
Thank goodness for my computer. The only place I can go and get away from it all. I hate to think where I would be without it. It has become my best friend. Some people think I am addicted, I don't agree.
Outside the snow is three feet deep and more is expected tonight. There have been no snow plows in the area, and my car is frozen. The garbage is piling up and stinking up the house. This is what I call the winter blues.
When will winter be over? Is it true that if a groundhog doesn't see his shadow then we will have an early spring, or is it the other way around? I can never get that straight. This is what I call the winter blues.
It has been so cold I have to keep the fireplace going. I am almost out of wood. I have to go outside and get some more but I can't because of all the snow. This is what I call the winter blues.
