"Trading Places", by Jennifer Martin
Copyright © 2000, Age 20

You came to me
when I needed you most
Out of the mist
like someone's ghost

I pretended you were him
put you into his shoes
Gave you my heart
I had nothing to lose

Before I knew it
you had taken his place
When I looked at you
I no longer saw his face

How could that be?
what did you do
To make me forget about him
and fall in love with you?

You tore down my walls
and conquered my barriers
You had no right
I didn't ask for a savior

A savior? Not you
that could never be
'Cause it was always about you
never about me.
