"The Path", by Bleu Copyright © 1999
Along a gurgling brook is a path,
its course long and winding;
A passage of discovery and revelation,
the journey's end, hers for the finding.
The owner of the path has neglected it so,
for she has not coursed it in many seasons;
Her pilgrimage thus far has been tarried
and she must discover, herself, the reasons.
Overgrown with weeds, upon loose cobblestones
she must step with sure footing and care.
From her sojourn she parts with some trepidation,
unsure at the path's end what she'll find there.
The solitary venturer braves her arduous journey,
a rare map held clenched to her chest.
Its legend is curious, written in symbols and code,
decipherable only by she who knows the path best.
She summons strength welling within her,
her heart filled with hope, yet with some fear.
For the decisions she'll make along the way
challenges both ideals and desires she holds dear.
'Tho she may feel forlorn during the passage,
she will never be alone, she does think;
For her soul's companion will provide respite
if from his brook, clear water she will drink.
The brook offers endless refreshment,
cool and sparkling, should she ever thirst
for friendship true, encouragement and wisdom,
for its love recognized her need first.
This is a journey she knows must be taken
if she truly desires to be peaceful and free;
For the path is her heartbeat and lifeline --
it is the path to finding "me".
